Finally. After 11 months of searching, worrying, personalizing cover letters, re-writing resumes, donning a suit for interviews, it is over, I have landed a job. With a small software company, in San Francisco, making what I made at my last position. It's a small company--I will make the sixth employee in San Francisco, plus two in Chicago. I'm still in a bit of shock....the job was offered after the interview and I start Thursday.
I'll miss the unlimited Vine time I've had since January, sleeping until 8AM, watching too much Cooking Channel (anyone else a Chuck Hughes fan?) But as the trade-off is employment, fulfillment, a paycheck, coworkers and office coffee, I think I will be happy, very happy.
Couldn't have happened at a better time. I was looking at a January deadline before I'd have to seriously consider moving in with my parents, from San Francisco (my home for the past 15 and a half years) to Fresno. Fresno's great for holiday visits and being cozy in my childhood home, but San Francisco is my adult home. And now, it will continue to be so...SMILE. I might need to go hug Coit Tower and samba across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Off to cartwheel and buy a couple treats at Trader Joe's in celebration. Any suggestions?
I'll miss all of you, even those of you I've crossed swords with--but I'll be around evenings and weekends.
